TRIPOLI, Libya – Afriqiyah Airways has added Lyon-Satolas, France and Milan-Malpensa, Italy to its European network as part of an on-going corporate strategy to improve transportation links between Africa, Europe and the world beyond.

The airline which boasts one of the youngest fleets connecting Europe and Africa, has inaugurated the new routes with Airbus A319/A320 and A330 aircraft designed to offer state-of-the-art passenger comfort including AVOD (Audio Video On Demand) in every seat. The goal is to improve accessibility to major African cities through the Tripoli airport hub with 17 convenient connections that make it possible for travelers to reach their final destinations by evening of the same day.

Service from Lyon, a major gateway to the Rhone-Alpes region and French-speaking Switzerland, began July 15 with a gala airport celebration. Flights now depart Lyon at 14:45, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The Lyon-Satolas Airport has high-speed rail service directly to and from Paris, Annecy (Geneva) and Turin.

Service from Milan-Malpensa began July 18 and operates Monday, Wednesday and Sunday. Flights from Milan depart at 14:00 and offer convenient travel to Tripoli plus excellent connections to Afriqiyahโ€™s extensive African network. The network includes Abidjan, Accra, Bangui, Bamako, Cotonou Dakar, Douala, Kinshasa, Johannesburg, Khartoum, Lome, Lagos, Niamey and Ouagadougou.
