SEYCHELLES – Seychelles will play host to the 6th edition of the economic forum of the Indian Ocean islands states (Seychelles, Mauritius, La Reunion, Madagascar, Mayotte, and Comores). A concept initiated back in 2005, the main objective is to provide a platform for its participants to facilitate the exchange of ideas, address economic issues affecting the region, and promote public-private sector partnership in the region.
The forum is also a great opportunity to link member states and participants to create a powerful network, which will enable all parties to access one anotherโs resources to their mutual benefits.
This yearโs edition will be held from October 19-21 at the International Conference Centre Seychelles. The themes to be addressed during this yearโs forum are as follows:
– Regional economic and commercial integration
– Tourism – A label for the Indian Ocean Island State “Myth or Reality”
– Sustainable regional co-development
The forum will include workshops in the morning, during which the above themes will be addressed and B2B meetings held in the afternoon.
For companies and businesses interested in participating, registration forms are available via email upon request or can be collected at the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ebrahim Building, Victoria. Registration deadline is September 30, 2010, upon which a fee of 150 euro per person is payable.

Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, and eTurboNews ambassador, said that Seychelles has embarked on the incentive and conference business, and today their resorts are ready and are providing the necessary facilities for this niche market.
“Our Tourism Board has even created an Events and Convention Department to work with the industry to reposition Seychelles in this niche market. Mrs. Marymonde Matatiken is the responsible manager for that department, and she is working tirelessly to break into the incentives and conference market. Mrs. Matatiken remains the contact person on [email protected] for all information on incentives, conferences, and events in Seychelles,” St.Ange said.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industries’ October Forum comes at the right time for Seychelles as it will be an opportunity for the creole tourism islands of the Seychelles to showcase their natural attributes to the world.
