(eTN) – Hermine is a tropical storm and is producing heavy rainfall over Texas. So far, the National Weather Service has not issued any coastal watches or warnings. Maximum sustained winds remain near 40 mph with higher gusts, and Hermine is expected to become a tropical depression tonight.
Tropical storm force winds will occur over a small area near the center of Hermine for the next few hours, and water levels along the Texas coast will gradually recede but remain above normal for the next day or two. Total rainfall accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are expected with possible isolated maximum amounts of 10 inches from the middle Texas coast northward through central Texas and over central and eastern Oklahoma. The rains are expected to spread northeastward across southeastern Kansas and Missouri during the next few days.
Heavy rainfall could cause flash flooding and isolated tornadoes are possible over portions of central and southeast Texas today.
