Business and leisure travellers checking in at Riyadh’s Al Faisaliah Hotel, A Rosewood Hotel, may find that staff have an extra spring in their step these days after nominations were announced for the travel industry’s equivalent of the Oscars.

The luxury hotel, a landmark at the heart of the city’s Olaya district, has won three nominations in the World Travel Awards, the global industry spectacle celebrating its 15th anniversary this year with a bigger than ever series of gala events around the globe to announce the winners.

Al Faisaliah Hotel has been nominated as the Middle East’s Leading Hotel, Saudi Arabia’s Leading Business Hotel and Saudi Arabia’s Leading Hotel.

The Middle East winners will be announced at a glittering ‘Oscars’ style World Travel Awards event at Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace hotel on 28th October 2008 after thousands of travel professionals around the world have cast their votes online.

‘Just like with the Oscars, there’s a big sense of achievement in being nominated for an award, and the management and staff are particularly proud and excited that we’ve managed to win nominations in three categories for 2008’ said Wolfgang O. Pachler, Managing Director for Al Faisaliah Hotel – A Rosewood Hotel.

Costas S. Gavriel, Director of Sales and Marketing, added,
‘The nominations come from travel industry professionals, so this is a big endorsement of our efforts to maintain our reputation as the Kingdom’s leading luxury hotel offering impeccable service.’

This year’s three nominations mean Al Faisaliah Hotel has the chance to go one better than in the 2007 World Travel Awards when it celebrated a double success, winning awards for Saudi Arabia’s Leading Hotel & Leading Suite, and Saudi Arabia’s Leading Hotel for the third year in a row.

These were among a stream of prestigious awards captured in recent years by the hotel, which forms a towering centre piece amid the exclusive shops, residences and businesses of Riyadh’s Al Faisaliah Centre. The hotel is famous for its spectacular dome restaurant, The Globe, which gives dramatic view across Riyadh.
