High Investment returns in Zimbabwe? Irrigation Schemes and Commercial Agricultural Production

Many say Zimbabwe may be a hidden secret for global investors. It includes investment in the potential travel and tourism industry. eTN had reported about investment opportunities in tourism in Victoria Falls for years. Zimbabwe is going through tough times, but tough times are often good openings for unconventional investors and potentially high returns.

Zimbabwe may have such a high return opportunity on the Horizon and it appears to be Agricultural developments.

Currently the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA)invites interested Investment Companies and Individual Investors to partner with it in the development of Irrigation Schemes as well as viable Commercial Agricultural Production on selected Greenfield Irrigation Schemes and existing ARDA Estates, targeting the production of both Food Security and Export Crops under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model or other Government of Zimbabwe approved forms of Partnerships.

Potential Partners/Investors must be adequately capitalized to not only provide Working Capital support but also Capital investment which should include but not be limited to: –

  • Land Clearing and Development;
  • Development of the requisite irrigation infrastructure;
  • Establishment of road networks in the Project area;
  • Acquisition of the necessary Farm Machinery and/or Equipment;
  • The building of On-farm Factories, Offices, and Staff Houses;
  • Establishment of Value Addition Facilities on-site;
  • Establishment of vibrant and integrated Out-grower and/or In-grower Schemes for the Project to benefit the Local Communities; and
  • Establishment of other necessary supporting infrastructure.

Interested companies and/or individuals must provide a solid Proof of Financial Capability and experience showing that they are both qualified and experienced to perform.  Detailed Terms and Conditions will be availed to shortlisted Prospective Investment Partners who will be required to physically assess the targeted Project Sites, develop and produce detailed Business Plans and Cash Flow Projections for final evaluation.
