German tourist molested in Goa

Five persons were rounded up based on the description given by 27-year-old German national who complained before the Colva police that an unknown man molested her on Friday night on the isolated Cavelossim beach stretch in South Goa. The police also released a sketch of the probable assailant.

As the nightmare for women tourists continued in the state, Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik convened a high-level meeting of police officials to discuss crimes against foreigners amid a raging debate on their safety.

The German woman,whose name was not released, said in her complaint “while I was taking bath in the shallow water, some unknown person came and pulled my swim wear. I saw a dark complexioned man pouncing on me and somehow managed to free from him. He made good his escape through thick forest.”

The incident occured when the complainant, who stays with another 31-year-old German lady friend, had gone on a beach for a late night stroll.

While her friend was waiting at one stretch, the complainant went ahead and later decided to take bath.

“We have rounded up five persons with similar description and investigations are on,” police inspector Edwin Colaco told PTI.

The incident happened even as the Goa government fends of allegations of a cover up in the Scarelett rape and murder case.
