(eTN) While Ugandans from all walks of life continue to contribute generously to the fund established by the Buganda Kingdom towards the rebuilding of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kasubi Tombs, UNESCO will also make a contribution in the amount of US$1 million towards the cause.

The Ugandan government has also made contributions and commitments of further support to restore the site to its former glory, as the tombs have indeed over the years become a magnet for foreign and local visitors to learn about the rich cultural history of the kingdom or else pay their respect, almost in pilgrimage style.

The commitment by UNESCO was made by the organizationโ€™s director general, Mrs. Irina Bokova, who was in Uganda last week for a continental conference, which brought together over 40 countries from Africa at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
