SEYCHELLES – Seychelles veteran hotelier, Louis D’Offay, was re-elected chairman of the Seychelles Hospitality & Tourism Association at the 2010 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the country’s tourism industry.

Louis D’Offay is credited to have been instrumental for the existing partnership that currently exists between the country’s tourism industry and the government of President James Michel. This Seychelles public/private sector partnership has been credited in successfully relaunching the country’s tourism industry, which is today experiencing a 14 percent increase in visitor arrival numbers when compared to the same period in 2009.

The Seychelles is also today experiencing a 4 percent increase in visitor arrival numbers on 2008, which was a record year for these mid-ocean creole tropical islands.

The 2010 elections saw the Seychelles Tourism Trade re-elect for the next two-year term most of the outgoing members of their board. The elected board members are:

Chairman: Louis D’Offay
Vice Chairman: Alain St.Ange
Secretary: Daniella Payet-Alis
Treasurer: Alan Mason

Board Members:
Bart Lasbuchagne
Carl Mills
Christopher Gill
Freddy Karkaria
Guillaume Albert
Paul Hodoul

This election has given the tourism industry’s board of directors the clear mandate to pursue discussions with the Seychelles government, based on the public/private sector partnership, for the continued consolidation of the island’s tourism industry.

The AGM was also the opportunity for Louis D’Offay to present his report and for Alain St. Ange to present the marketing efforts launched by the Seychelles Tourism Board.
