ISLAMABAD: Despite worsening law & order in the country, income generated by the Pakistani tourism industry has increased by 6 percent, Caretaker Tourism and Youth Affairs Minister Muhammed Ali Saif said Sunday.
The major factor behind an increase in revenue generation is price hikes and an increase in the number of visiting tourists to attend briefings by the Tourism Ministry. In 2007, the country earned $276.1 million through the tourism industry.
Saif said Pakistan would attract one million foreign tourists in 2008. They are expected to visit Pakistan and the ministry is still finalising plans to achieve the target, he added. If the industry achieves the target, Pakistan would earn $350 million in 2008.
