British Airways CEO has called for staff volunteers to keep the airline flying during upcoming strikes by cabin crew. The walkouts will threaten utter travel chaos for holidaymakers, football fans and other passengers in the weeks to come.
Cabin crew walkouts are set for on May 18-22 inclusive, May 24-28, May 30-June 3 and June 5-9 in an ongoing quarrel over working conditions, wages and jobs. Walkout could also threaten the plans of thousands of British soccer fans, for the last day of strike is only two days away from the start of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa
In an internal message sent to staff, British Airways CEO Willie Walsh has denied claims that he had rejected calls for additional talks over the weekend and has placed the blame for the upcoming strikes on Unite, which he called a “cynical and calculating” union.
