Jeffrey Xu has been appointed to the position of exhibition manager for the CIBTM, the China Incentive Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition. Jeffrey takes over the responsibilities from Graeme Barnett who recently moved to the position of exhibition director for EIBTM, Reed Travel Exhibitionsโ€™ Meetings and Events portfolio flagship show in Barcelona.

The 2010 event, which incorporates the first ever China Meetings Week, will take place from Tuesday, August 31โ€“Thursday, September 2 at the China National Convention Centre, Beijing.

He joins the CIBTM team from Super Events, Chinaโ€™s first sports presentation and victory ceremony consultancy where he was deputy general manager responsible for the companyโ€™s daily operations. His clients included the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, 2009 East Asian Games in Hong Kong, and the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou. He also previously worked for international sport communicationโ€™s company Aristeia as general manager and deputy general manager at Seven Network Ltd., Australiaโ€™s largest commercial broadcaster.

Commenting on the appointment, Mandy Torrens, head of marketing and buyer programs, RTE Meetings and Events Portfolio said: โ€œI am delighted that Jeffery is joining us at such an exciting time for CIBTM and the meetings industry in China. As a Mandarin speaker, Jeffreyโ€™s experience and knowledge within China and Asia will prove invaluable in growing CIBTM, developing China Meetings Week, and working closely with partners and supporters of the show, which include the Beijing Tourism Administration and China National Tourism Administration.โ€
