Delegates from 23 countries from as far as Australia, the USA, and Portugal have gathered in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, this week for the fourth annual Open Seminar in the Middle East of UFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, which will commence today with a meeting of the Middle East/Africa Chapter members.

Themed, “Toolbox for Future Exhibition Management,” the three-day regional seminar will be officially inaugurated at 9:15 am tomorrow at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre (BIECC).

Vincent Gerard, managing director of UFI, headquartered in Paris, is leading the visiting delegation from abroad. This includes HE Ahmad Humaid Al Mazrouie, UFI Middle East/Africa (MEA) Chapter chairman and Ibrahim Alkhaldi, UFI Middle East/Africa regional manager. Recognized leaders in the global expo industry have been invited as guest speakers including Rashid Toefy, CEO – Cape Town International Convention Centre; Karla Juegel, managing director โ€“ Exhibition & Event Management, Munich; Joechen Witt, CEO โ€“ JWC, Cologne; Patrick Seitter, head – Marketing/Communication, European Society of Biomechanics (ESB), Bern; and Simon Foster, CEO โ€“ United Business Media (UBM) International Media, Maarsen.

BECA is hosting the wholeday seminar at the BIECC, which has attracted the participation of over 80 delegates from different parts of the world.

The UFI Seminar will also feature a panel discussion led by Mr. Gerard with the participation of Barbara Rowell, CEO โ€“ Jacaranda Images, Amman; Sue Howarth, client liaison director โ€“ ADNEC; and Abdulnabi Daylami, CEO โ€“ Bahrain Tourism Company. Paul Woodward, UFI Asia/Pacific regional manager โ€“ Hong Kong, will moderate the event.
