Tajik Somon Air orders two Boeing 737s

Boeing Co. said Somon Air of Dushanbe, Tajikistan, has ordered two 737-900 extended range (ER) airplanes valued at $163 million at list prices.

Boeing Co. said Somon Air of Dushanbe, Tajikistan, has ordered two 737-900 extended range (ER) airplanes valued at $163 million at list prices.

Chicago-based Boeing said this is the first direct purchase of its airplanes by Somon Air.

The airline currently operates two Renton-built 737-800 airplanes and flies from Dushanbe to cities in Russia, Germany, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

โ€œWe consider this a very memorable event for our airline,โ€ said Sherali Kabirov, Somon Air board member, in a statement.
