Hilton appoints general managers in Costa Rica

Hilton Worldwide announced two general manager appointments in Costa Rica.

Hilton Worldwide announced two general manager appointments in Costa Rica. Rui Domingues has been appointed general manager of the 202-room Hilton Papagayo Costa Rica Resort & Spa, as well as the 169-room Hilton Garden Inn Liberia Airport, holding responsibility for the management of both hotels. Laura Castagnini has been appointed general manager of the 223-room Doubletree Cariari by Hilton San Jose.

A 34-year hospitality veteran, Rui joins Hilton Papagayo Costa Rica Resort & Spa and Hilton Garden Inn Liberia Airport after more than three years as general manager at Hilton Margarita & Suites in Venezuela. Prior to his move to Venezuela, Rui acted as general manager of the former Jalousie Hilton Resort & Spa, where he spent more than six years in resort operations. He took his first job in the industry when he was 16 years old, and then in 1982, joined Hilton as a room service and banquet service manager at the Windsor Hilton in Canada. Since then, he has held management roles with Hilton throughout the Americas, focusing in operations, as well as food and beverage, at well-established hotels such as Hilton Bonaventure in Montreal and Hilton Toronto. Rui studied arts at Champlain College and McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Laura joins the Doubletree Cariari by Hilton San Jose team from Costa Rica’s Liberia region, where she served as general manager, Hilton Garden Inn Liberia Airport. Prior to her role as general manager, she held the role of director of operations at the neighboring Hilton Papagayo Costa Rica Resort & Spa. A Brazil native, Laura was recruited by Hilton to participate in the company’s Elevator Training Program in 2000, giving her an opportunity to gain experience in key roles such as accounting, human resources, sales, training, and operations, among others. After successfully completing the international management development program in 2002, Laura accepted her first assignment with Hilton as training manager at Hilton São Paulo Morumbi. This was followed by a move to Hilton Curaçao, where she spent over three years holding roles as director of human resources and operations manager. A graduate of Florida International University, Laura holds a Bachelor of Science degree in hospitality management.
