Western Australia’s government has announced a new $5.5 million tourism strategy which will include a taxi ride around WA.

The Tourism Minister Liz Constable says the new tourism brand, Experience Extraordinary, will showcase hundreds of destinations and experiences around the state.

The first part of the campaign is a taxi ride around WA which will be filmed and broadcast globally.

Five people have been chosen from 460 who applied to drive the taxi in the campaign and Tourism WA is urging West Australians to vote for their favourite.

Dr Constable says it is an unusual campaign.

“We were inspired by Western Australia, trying to get out the message to the world how extraordinary the state is and looking for an extraordinary way to show the world who we are and what we are and a great gateway to the rest of Australia,” she said.
