An added element of cultural and tourism promotion has come into play in the Seychelles after President Michel appointed the immediate former High Commissioner to South Africa Noelli Alexander as the new chairperson of the national arts council. Notably, among the board members, is also the director of tourism marketing and eTN ambassador for the Seychelles, Mr. Alain St. Ange.

The councilโ€™s main function will be to promote the rich Creole art, culture, and heritage of the archipelago in the future; encourage visits to the various museums across the islands; and look out for art works, historic buildings, and cultural sites worth protecting for posterity and for visitors from abroad to see.

It is understood as breaking news, that the Seychelles Tourist Board will later this week launch a dedicated department responsible for promoting cultural tourism, which will be a new item on the growing list of attractions for visitors from overseas.
