Venice tourists arrested, fined €3,000 for swimming naked in the canal

Tourists in Venice were fined three thousand euros for swimming naked in the city canal.

According to the reports, two men stripped naked and jumped into the water near St. Mark’s Square. Passersby who noticed naked people in the water notified the police. The men were forced to go ashore, get dressed and proceed to the police station.

Violators turned out to be visiting soccer fans. They told the police that they decided to take a swim, because “the evening turned out to be especially warm.”

Venice currently has a number of restrictions, rules and regulations in places to prevent illegal behavior of tourists and reduce the number of visitors.
