Seychelles has received the “Gold Award for International Cooperation” at the opening ceremony of the 2011 China International Travel Advertisers’ Week, in Sanya, Hainan Province, China, on November 20.

The award was announced by the Executive President of the China Association of National Advertisers, Mr. Duan Ruichun, and the presentation was made to Seychelles’ Resident Ambassador to China, Mr. Philippe Le Gall, by Mrs. Gu Xiulian, Vice Chairman of the 10th National People’s Congress and former President of the All-China Women’s Federation.

Also present was Mr. Zheng Silin, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress; Mr. Jiang Sixian, Vice Governor of Hainan People’s Government; and Mr. Wang Zhifa, Deputy Director of China National Tourism Administration.

Amb. Le Gall was invited to attend this event and deliver a keynote speech during the China International Urban Development Cooperation and Tourism Destination Brand Marketing Summit held on the same day. The Ambassador’s address, “Seychelles tourism development: how to manage uniqueness,” focused on Seychelles eco-friendly understanding of tourism development.

In the margin of the conference, Ambassador Le Gall also met with the President of the Tourism Branch of China Association of National Advertisers, Mr. Chen Yilong, and discussed the possible participation of Seychelles in a major international expo on cultural tourism planned to be held in China next year.

The Ambassador also discussed other areas of cooperation such as with the Seychelles Victoria Carnival and possible participation in next year’s Heritage and Tourism Expo, the main tourism event organized in Macau Special Administrative Region.
