The Maia Resort on Anse Louis was honored last week for “best quality service in the Middle East and African countries” by the global Leading Hotels of the World.

Present at the occasion were the minister for Human Resource Development, Mr. Alain St. Ange, director of marketing at the Seychelles Tourist Board and the general manager for Tourism Development, to celebrate the displaying of the award in the presence of the resortโ€™s management and staff. The resort scored apparently some 92 percent marks in the competition, which measured some 160 criteria.

The Maia Resort opened in 2006 and currently operates with over 70 percent of Seychellois staff, many of whom have taken over positions previously held by expatriates since the opening.

Mr. St. Ange observed that guest satisfaction, not only in the Maia Resort but right across all resorts and hotels on the archipelago, was at an all-time high and applauded the hospitality industryโ€™s commitment towards staff training and human resource development aimed at young Seychellois people seeking a career in the hotel sector.
