LOS ANGELES, California – In line with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts sustainability efforts, the Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain has recently been awarded Green Globe certification. It is the first time in the kingdom, that Green Globe has awarded certification to a major hotel for its sustainable management.
The Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain met Green Globe Certification’s comprehensive sustainability criteria, with an extensive audit of over 350 sustainability indicators. Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain has met 80% of these indicators in its first year of certification, ranking it one of the leading Green Globe certified hotels and resorts for sustainable management in key areas including environmental, social cultural, quality, health, and safety.
Balaji Narayan, Chief Engineer and certification team leader said, “Our aim is to reduce and optimize the energy consumption, reduce water usage, and better manage waste and chemical use,” Mr. Balaji added, “The hotel has taken the initiative to contract local companies to recycle waste material such as bottles, plastic, paper, cartons, used kitchen oil, and cans.”
In order to achieve Green Globe certification, Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain has adhered to the highest international standards, and was inspected by a third-party independent auditor appointed to work with the hotel management team.
