For the fifth year running, WYSE Work Abroad is inviting all its member organizations to help support its mission to showcase the value of work and volunteer abroad programs, the impact it has on young people, and the opportunities participants receive to expand their horizons: all in the form of one great “Expand Your Horizons” Video Contest.
The 2010/2011 edition of the “Expand Your Horizons” Video Contest saw over 40 contributions with videos from around the globe, and furthermore a great number of submissions from volunteer program participants. The winner was announced at WYSTC 2011 in Barcelona and this year’s award goes to Krupali Patel, for her entry “Be the Change…Share a Namaste!” showcasing the volunteer experience of her and her fellow medical students from Touro College in New York. This was made possible through the WYSE Work Abroad Volunteering India member.
“It was a pleasure to have such an energetic group of people join our program and the team of Volunteering India is really happy that Krupali’s video won the prize,” said Saurabh Sabharwal, Executive Director of Volunteering India, adding, “it felt great to be recognized in front of the WYSTC community.”
Through this contest, WYSE Work Abroad is looking to showcase the core aspects of work and volunteer abroad programs, as these allow young people to immerse themselves in a new culture, see a new country from more than the tourist perspective, and take valuable experiences back with them.
The 2011/2012 edition of “Expand Your Horizons” is now open and calling for participants to submit their videos and share their stories.
