On October 9 at 12:00 noon local time, a wild fire originating from the surrounding area spread to the The Grand Mauritian Resort & Spa in Turtle Bay, Mauritius. The fire was completely extinguished by the local fire brigade by October 10 at 10:00 am local time. Apart from two associates who were immediately treated in a hospital for minor injuries, none of the hotel guests or other persons at the hotel were injured. Guests were offered the opportunity to relocate to other properties nearby, including the resort’s sister hotel, Le Méridien Ile Maurice.
Hotel management and its team are working closely with the local authorities to investigate the cause of the fire. The hotel issued a statement saying that the safety, security, and well-being of their guests and associates is their paramount priority.
Currently, the hotel is not accepting any reservations and it is not clear when the resort will be fully operational again. Any questions regarding an existing or future reservation should be directed to the temporary reservation office at +230 204 34 15 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org .
