12 people killed, over 20 injured in India bus and auto rickshaw collision

At least 12 people were killed and over twenty were injured in a collision between an auto rickshaw and a bus in in the town of Chintamani, 46 miles from Bengaluru in India’s southern state of Karnataka.

The accident took place at 12:45 p.m. local time and the injured have been admitted to hospital in Chintamani and Kolar, said the local police from Kencharlahalli police station in whose jurisdiction the accident took place.

The private bus rammed into the auto rickshaw, killing all 12 persons aboard the carrier, the police said.

The auto rickshaw that was rammed by the bus was converted to passenger vehicle.

In a similar incident on Monday, 35 people were killed and 17 others were injured in a road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district.
