Seychelles to send delegation to WTO General Assembly

Seychelles will be sending a delegation at the 19th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization to be held in Gyeongju, South Korea, from October 8-14, 2011. The Seychelles delegation will be headed by Alain St.Ange, CEO of Seychelles Tourism Board; Sharen Venus, the Tourism Board’s Senior Marketing Executive; and Kim Bin Nam, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s Regional Manager based in South Korea.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for Seychelles tourism officials to network with other partners and stakeholders in the tourism industry and to keep up with latest developments in tourism. It will also be an occasion to reinforce Seychelles cooperation and collaboration with partners and explore other areas of collaboration or assistance, which the UN World Tourism organization (UNWTO) can offer.

The General Assembly is the supreme organization of the UNWTO, which ‎meets every 2 years to approve the budget and program of work for the organization, and to debate ‎topics of vital importance to the tourism sector. During this meeting, the assembly, among other things, will elect members of the executive council. The executive council has 30 members, half of which are elected every 2 years by the General Assembly. The executive council is the governing board of the organization, which ensures that the organization carries out its work and adheres to its budget.
