It seems that unlike the rest of the travel industry, the cruise industry has not been hit as hard by the recession. The cruise industry gets yet another boost from the news that Carnival Corporation has confirmed an order for a new 4,000 passenger ship.

This new ship, which will be the third in the Carnival Dream line, will now make Carnivalโ€™s 13th new ship that is due for delivery between January next year and spring of 2012. Of course, great news normally does not come alone. Other cruise lines are likely to fall suit with Princess Cruises and MSC Cruises as the two most likely to do so.

This news comes just following the announcement from the Passengers Shipping Association that predicted that the cruise industry for the UK would see an increase in 2010. In fact, they say that the cruise market will grow to 1.65 million passengers.

The brand new ship, which is a 130,000 ton ship, will be built by Italian Shipbuilder Fincantieri and will launch in the spring of 2012. The ship can carry 3,960 passengers and will feature many of the same facilities as Carnival Dream, which made its debut back in September. This includes such things as a water park, spa, and an outdoor promenade.

Right now Fincantieri is currently building the Carnival Magic, which is a sister ship to the Carnival Dream. It is set to come out in May of 2011. The Carnival Cruise Line president and chief executive, Gerry Cahill, said that the Carnival Dream is already earning rave reviews from guests and travelers.
