Inspira Santa Marta Hotel is an award winning 4 star boutique green hotel located in the heart of Lisbon. Feng shui principles are incorporated throughout the hotel to provide a harmonious atmosphere where guests can enjoy a peaceful and relaxed stay.

Green Globe has recertified Inspira Santa Marta Hotel for the 8th year in a row.

โ€œGreen Globe certification is considered to be the highest standard for sustainability worldwide in the tourism and business travel industry. In Portugal, only two hotels are certified by GreenGlobe – and Inspira Santa Marta is proud to be one of them!โ€ said Patricia Marques, Sustainability & Development Manager at the hotel.

The certification’s main criteria are sustainability management, social responsibility, economic sustainability, cultural heritage and environmental preservation projects. Over the years, Inspira Santa Marta has continually improved its performance in meeting Green Globe requirements, increasing from a 75% compliance score in 2010 to 92% in 2018.

โ€œThis achievement reflects the Inspira team’s daily dedication to its motto – Doing The Right Thing,โ€ added Ms. Marques. โ€œIt is with great pride that Inspira Santa Marta Hotel is a sustainable development leader in Portugal.โ€

Power generated from 100% renewable resources and water filtered and bottled in recycled glass bottles onsite are amongst the notable sustainable achievements at the property. In line with the hotelโ€™s social responsibilities, revenue from the sale of Inspira Water is given to Pump Aid, an international NGO, to sponsor the installation of water pumps and sanitation infrastructure in sub-Saharan Africa.

Inspira Santa Marta also works on community initiatives through partnering with local organisations such as the Lisbon Botanical Garden. First opened in 1878, the Botanical Garden is a centre for learning for botany students at the local Polytechnic School as well as an important recreational space for local residents. Inspira staff members voluntarily maintain a section of the Garden to preserve biodiversity for future generations.

To promote Portuguese cuisine and support regional economic activity, the chef at the hotelโ€™s restaurant, Open Brasserie Mediterrรขnica, chooses only the best local ingredients for menus created with a productโ€™s seasonality and freshness in mind. The majority of food suppliers chosen by Inspira are also from Portugal with vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and lactose free dishes on offer to cater for all tastes.

Inspira Santa Martaโ€™s comprehensive Sustainability Report can be found on the hotelโ€™s website.
