Seychelles received Best Luxury Travel Destination award in Beijing, China
Seychelles is once again recognized for the world-class experience it offers, as it won the ‘Best Luxury Travel Destination’ award at the 2018 National Tourism Fashion Award held in Beijing, China, on January 22, 2019.
The National Tourism Fashion Awards is one of the most influential annual events in China’s tourism industry. Organized by National Tourism, a well-known Chinese travel trade magazine, in St. Regis, Beijing, this year’s National Tourism Fashion Award was the 14th edition.
The Seychelles Tourism Board’s (STB) Regional Director, Mr. Jean-Luc Lai-Lam, mentioned his satisfaction to see that the marketing work performed on the Chinese market is being fruitful. He mentioned that Seychelles as a destination making itself known as a luxury island travel destination not only among trades but also among the Chinese consumers.
“Seychelles offers pristine forests, extraordinary flora and fauna, number-one class beaches and air quality in the world, water of various shades of blue and amazing underwater sceneries for Chinese to visit. Let us not forget about the luxuries resorts, which provide extremely private and secluded space for them,” said Mr. Lai-Lam.
This is the first time Seychelles receives this award at such a level and Mr. Lai- Lam said, “It shows our move toward Seychelles being seen as a luxury destination for the Chinese travelers is working, as per our new strategy that was launch in mid-2017.”
During the event, a newly made video by DJI, capturing the uniqueness of the exotic islands, was aired. Guests onsite had the chance to see the pristine beauties the island nation has to offer.
Winners of the 2018 National Tourism Fashion Awards were selected by experts in China’s travel and tourism industry comprising of executives of travel companies and tour operators as well as members of the media.
Winners are selected according to four criteria – ‘brand, scale, innovation, and performance’. Based on the relevant data of authoritative statistical agencies, combined with the capital market, industry-to-business recognition, and industry experts’ vote, the awardees are finally confirmed.
Constance Ephelia and Constance Lemuria joined hands with STB, where they gave some souvenirs as well as hotel vouchers, showing their support to the organizer.
Participating in the event were more than 60 representatives of tourism boards and tourism bureaus, over 21 airlines, more than 10 hotel groups and 200 plus travel agents.
Altogether, the event attracted more than 500 participants, giving more visibility to the winners.
9,040 Chinese visitors set foot in Seychelles in 2018.
