Benchmark hospitality company has added The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark to its Benchmark Resorts & Hotels brand operating portfolio.
The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark expects to create 500 permanent jobs and up to 250 construction jobs. Located less than two hours from New York City, Northern New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, the new project will draw adventure seekers and families from the greater New York Metropolitan area and beyond.
Located in Monticello, in New York’s Catskill Mountains, the new property will open in March 2019 on 1,600 wooded acres, the site of the Resorts World Catskills entertainment complex. The new luxury hotel will include a state-of-the-art, two-acre indoor waterpark with activities and amenities geared to family fun. The hotel and indoor waterpark will also feature multiple dining options, a relaxing spa, a ropes course, and an entertainment arcade. Guests will have access to cutting-edge gaming at Resorts World Catskills and can tee off at the world-famous Monster Golf Course. The accommodations will include 324 luxury suites.
“We are very excited to be part of this highly innovative project,” says Benchmark CEO Alex Cabañas. “The Kartrite has completely reimagined the idea of a perfect family vacation destination. This will be a resort for all seasons, using the most current technology to provide a safe, exciting experience for every guest, regardless of age.”
The property will be part of the Resorts World Catskills campus which is comprised of four major components, including a 100,000-square-foot Casino featuring more than 150 live game tables, 2,150 state-of-the-art slot machines, a poker room and private gaming salons.
The award-winning waterpark design/build firm, Aquatic Development Group (ADG), has designed and is building the indoor waterpark at The Kartrite. ADG has provided planning, design & construction of more indoor and outdoor water park hotels & resorts than any other company in the aquatic industry, including Aquatopia at Camelback Resort in the Poconos on which the Kartrite was modeled after, and most recently, the hotel & indoor waterpark resort at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville.
Inspired by the architecture of indoor waterparks in Europe, ADG designed The Kartrite with unobstructed column-free construction that features a barrel-shaped transparent Texlon® roofing system that will bathe visitors in natural sunlight and provide the ideal conditions for lush landscaping all year long. The energy efficient, eco-friendly material also allows for natural tanning without exposure to the harmful effects of UV rays, protecting children and parents alike. With a year-round temperature of 84 degrees Fahrenheit, The Kartrite will provide the ambiance of an island getaway, whatever the weather.
The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark will feature many thrilling water attractions, including waterslides, a FlowRider® surf simulator, a lazy river, a kid’s activity pool and a multi-level play structure with slides. Guests will also be able to retreat to their own personal oasis with a deluxe cabana rental or refuel at the indoor waterpark’s bar and grill.
The new property will embrace the beauty and historic nature of the Catskills region while setting new standards in architecture and interior design that enhance the guest experience for both parents and kids. The décor is decidedly cheeky, featuring a bold color canvas and chic furnishings harmoniously co-existing with charming whimsical accents that are sure to spark smiles and conversation.
