Florence Airport: ‘Untruthful security news’ result in ‘unjustified alarmism’
With reference to press reports regarding the security of Florence Airport, Ente Nazionale per l’Aviazione Civile (ENAC) reiterates that Florence airport, like all the main Italian airports, is certified according to EU Regulation No. 139 of 2014, which certifies the correspondence of the infrastructure , the organization of the operator and its operational procedures to applicable national and international safety requirements.
Before the entry into force of the Community Regulation no. 139, the 46 main Italian airports were certified on the basis of a National Regulation, the “Regulations for the Construction and Operation of Airports”, based on the provisions of Annex 14 of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
The flight operations of the Florence Peretola airport are therefore carried out in full safety in full compliance with current legislation, as evidenced by the constant and continuous supervision of ENAC aimed at maintaining the certification requirements.
ENAC hopes that no further untruthful security news will be released that could result in unjustified alarmism at the expense of the peace of the passengers using the flight infrastructure.
