Travel Agents on the Ile de Beauté, Corsica – France – are now in a better position to sell the enchanting islands of Seychelles after participating in the Escapades Seychelles Roadshow.

Travel Agents on the Ile de Beauté, Corsica – France – are now in a better position to sell the enchanting islands of Seychelles after participating in the Escapades Seychelles Roadshow.

The show was held in the cities of Ajaccio and Bastia earlier on October 11, 2018 and October 12, 2018. It was the second time that this popular roadshow, carried out by the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Office in France with support of the Seychelles Trade partners, were present in these towns.

STB Regional Director for Europe based in France Mrs. Bernadette Willemin headed the Seychelles delegation at the escapade. She was accompanied by Fabienne Joliton of Constance Hotels, Clairemont Coquet – JA Enchanted Island Resort, Ravinia Larue – Denis Island Private, Indian Ocean Lodge and Carana Beach, Christelle Vesperini and Rose Marie Monti of Air France and Ricardo Remi of Island specialist Tour Operator Austral Lagons.

“The support from the local Seychelles Private Sector Trade was great and the participating hotels, together with the Air France, as well as the Seychelles Tourism Board’s France Office, gave the agents an insight into the destination, that they did not have before,” said Mrs. Willemin.

Mrs. Willemin further mentioned that the decision to organize such an activity is a strategic move to mark Seychelles’ presence on the Corsican holiday map. She explained that Ajaccio and Bastia are two smaller cities outside the peninsula they are less visited by the trade. The fact that Seychelles brought their products to the doorstep of these agents was immensely appreciated and well supported.

Mrs. Bernadette Willemin said that even if Corsica is a touristic island destination, it is still an important catchment area with potential for Seychelles especially during the European autumn-winter period whereby many businesspersons close their activities and travel.

“It was therefore important that we took the time and made the effort in penetrating these regions and servicing these agents with the information of our islands and products, and in turn enabling them to recommend and sell the destination further, with more confidence and facts,” said Mrs. Willemin.

Corsica is an island in the Mediterranean Sea and one of the 18 regions of France. It is located southeast of the French mainland and west of the Italian Peninsula, with the nearest land mass being the Italian island of Sardinia to the immediate south. A single chain of mountains makes up two-thirds of the island.

While being part of Metropolitan France, Corsica is also designated as a territorial collectively by law. As a territorial collectively, Corsica enjoys a greater degree of autonomy than other French regions.

She added that “Many of them had sold the destination previously, but after attending the events, are now better equipped and have more confidence in recommending and most importantly, converting their inquiries into solid sales.”

STB’s Regional Director for Europe further stated that the STB Paris office is proud to have organized and lead another series of dedicated Seychelles Roadshow.

Mrs. Willemin said she feels that this achievement has benefited the travel agents that were present at the two venues to better understand Seychelles with all its diversity and variety of products.

“Escapades initiated and organized by STB office in France is a partner driven approach project and thus the hard work and team spirit that were put into making this event a success will positively be determined in the sales that we will eventually receive.”
