PARIS, France – American Eagle Airlines has been named Best Regional Airline in North America in the annual World Airline Survey™ by Skytrax, a London-based research organization that conducts the annual poll. The award was accepted today during the annual World Airline Awards™ at the Paris Air Show.

The World Airline Awards, voted on by airline customers, are based on results from 18.8 million questionnaires, covering more than 200 airlines worldwide. Award winners are determined by measuring more than 35 different aspects of passenger satisfaction for product and service standards, covering the experience across both airport and onboard environments.

“It is a distinguished honor to be named Best Regional Airline in North America,” said Dan Garton, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Eagle. “This award – bestowed upon us by our loyal customers – reinforces American Eagle’s long-standing belief that an outstanding customer experience is key to our success. My sincere thanks to our customers for their support – and to the more than 12,000 American Eagle employees, whose hard work and commitment have earned this recognition.”

American Eagle has provided regional airline service to American Airlines for more than 25 years – expanding American’s network and providing customers in small to medium-sized cities with convenient connections to American’s worldwide destinations and the vast oneworld global network. In fact, Eagle has launched nearly 60 new routes since 2010 – adding 26 new destinations to American’s route map.

In keeping with its focus on enhancing the onboard travel experience for customers, American Eagle last year introduced First Class service onboard its fleet of Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft. The aircraft feature nine First Class seats that offer four-way adjustable headrests, ergonomically-contoured back and seat cushions and an articulated seat bottom, which allow customers to recline with less impact to the legroom of the passengers seated behind them. As an additional inflight experience enhancement, First Class customers are offered a complimentary dining service if their flight is longer than two hours and occurs during a meal time.

Currently, this service is available on all of Eagle’s CRJ-700 jets on select flights from Chicago, Los Angeles and New York to key business markets such as Atlanta, Houston, Denver, Phoenix, Newark, Minneapolis and Washington, D.C.
