A record number of French tourists visited Moscow

The tourism potential of Moscow was discussed at IFTM Top Resa 2018” in Paris. Inessa Grig, the head of the tourism activities coordination of the Department of Sport and Tourism of Moscow, told a press conference about French tourists and the tourism potential of Moscow.

More than 130 000 of French people had visited the capital of Russia by the end of 2017. 40% of them visited Moscow as tourists, 20% paid a private visit. Herewith, in the first 6 months of 2018 over 203 000 of French tourists arrived in Moscow from France. France is one of the top five countries with the highest tourist flow to Moscow. The list also includes China, Germany, Netherlands and the USA.

«Every year we see the flow of tourists, coming to Moscow, rising. In 2017 the tourist flow from France increased by 33% in comparison with 2016. In total, in 2017, 21.6 million tourist arrivals were made in Moscow”, said Inessa Grig, the head of the tourism activities coordination of the Department of Sport and Tourism of Moscow.

As the result of the development of the transport infrastructure in the last 7 years Moscow has risen 14 places to the 6th place in the list of the cities with the best transport infrastructure. New metro stations and MCR have appeared in the city, new main roads have been made and pedestrian streets have been changed. The transport system of the capital is one of the best in the world along with Madrid, London, Chicago, Seoul and Hong Kong. Besides, the length of the Moscow bike lanes has become the same as in Tokyo and now equals 230 km.
