Centara Hotels & Resorts has signed a management contract for a four-star resort property in Mauritius, marking the company’s sixth international location.
Due to open in October 2012, Centara Poste Lafayette Resort & Spa Mauritius is set on a 500-meter stretch of white sand beach on the northeast coast of the island and will have its own diving reef.
The resort is built to an intimate scale with 98 guestrooms, of which 87 face the ocean and the remainder have spectacular views of the interior mountain range of the island. All rooms will have a private balcony with seating or hammocks.
Other facilities include an all-day dining restaurant and bar, a theme restaurant blending local and Asian dishes, a beach bar and snack deck, spa, kids’ club, sea sport and recreation center, a recreation room, and meeting room.
“Centara is delighted to be entering the Mauritius resort market,” said Gerd Steeb, president of Centara Hotels & Resorts, “We have identified a gap in the market for a quality four-star beachfront family-friendly resort offering a choice of half-board or all-inclusive stays, and we are very confident in making this property our sixth overseas destination.
“Entering the Mauritius hospitality market is a perfect addition to our expansion plans as it will immediately tap our core source markets from around the world.”
The owning company is Indian Ocean Real Estate Company Ltd. (IOREC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of GML, which is ranked in the top 100 Mauritius companies.
IOREC is a property development company operating primarily in the Indian Ocean region and whose projects include residential, commercial, industrial, retail leisure mixed use, and waterside developments.
