A strike at Marriott has been averted after a tentative agreement has been reached between Unifor Local 7575 and the Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville.

A strike at the Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville has been averted after a tentative agreement has been reached between Unifor Local 7575 and the Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville.

“We are pleased that the bargaining committee has reached an agreement they will recommend to members which, if ratified, will avoid any inconvenience to hotel guests and the public during the Toronto International Film Festival,” said Jerry Dias, Unifor’s National President.

Details of the tentative agreement will not be released until they are presented to union members at a ratification meeting.

Unifor represents 168 workers in all areas of the hotel including guest services, the lounge, banquets, kitchen, laundry, room attendants, and maintenance.

Unifor is Canada’s largest union in the private sector, representing 315,000 workers in every major area of the economy.
