Australian Eco Resort Binna Burra Lodge appoints Steve Noakes as chairman
Asia Pacific tourism veteran Steve Noakes, has been appointed Chair of the iconic Australian ecotourism resort, Binna Burra Lodge.
Asia Pacific tourism veteran Steve Noakes has been appointed Chair of the iconic Australian ecotourism resort, Binna Burra Lodge. The ecolodge is located in the world heritage listed Lamington National Park, Australia.
Noakes has been involved in the travel and tourism industry for 40 years and is a long-term advocate for sustainable tourism practices across the Asia Pacific region. He was the lead Asia Pacific representative in the development of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
‘Binna Burra Lodge has had what we now call a sustainable approach to tourism since its inception when the concept of national parks was still new around the world. Nowadays we also have the framework of world heritage values. This results in Binna Burra Lodge sharing responsibility for conservation of our cultural and natural heritage which is of Outstanding Universal Value and for sustainable development through appropriate tourism management.’ said Noakes
Binna Burra Lodge was founded in 1933. ‘Now, 85 years later, Binna Burra continues to deliver on the vision of its pioneering ecotourism founders to protect, conserve and present the world heritage value of Lamington National Park’ said Steve.
