Ethiopian Airlines, the largest Aviation Group in Africa is pleased to announce that it has been certified by ETA Umweltmanagement Ltd., an independent environmental verifier, for establishing and maintaining environmental management system in compliance with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015.

Regarding the certificate, Mr. Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines remarked: We are very honored by the certification. The certification showcases our commitment to promote environmental sustainability and adhere to international standards of environmental management. We have managed to considerably lower carbon footprint with our eco-friendly products and operations both on the ground and in the air. Most importantly, under our 15 year strategic plan, Vision 2025, we have spent billions on new fuel efficient aircraft. We serve our customers organic food without extra packaging, employ waste-reduction programs and run a paperless industry, among other things, which speak much to our eco-consciousness. One of our carbon offsetting programs dubbed “Fly Greener Program” has augmented our effort to reduce Carbon dioxide in a credible and simple way.”

Being an eco-friendly airline, Ethiopian Airlines Group has established an environmental management system applicable to Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services, Head Office, Maintenance Repair and Overhaul, Catering Services, Aviation Academy, Flight Operations, simulators and Equipment facility maintenance.
