The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) is placing next year’s 100th anniversary, of the founding of the legendary Bauhaus movement in Weimar, at the center of its worldwide marketing campaign for 2019.

“The anniversary of the founding of Bauhaus is ideally suited to consolidate Germany’s position as the number 1 cultural destination for Europeans,” explains Petra Hedorfer, Chief Executive Officer of the German National Tourist Board. “The roots, heritage and international appeal of the Bauhaus movement can be experienced in cities such as Weimar, Dessau, Berlin and many other areas. These are all contributing factors to a very important facet of travel destination Germany’s cultural offering.”

Kick-off: Landing Page Now Live

A new campaign landing page about Bauhaus is now live online in German, English and French. A specialist Bauhaus 100 anniversary icon, with the hashtag #CelebratingBauhaus, links directly to this new landing page. Its focus is a short animated film, produced by the GNTB, giving an overview about Bauhaus and important locations within travel destination Germany. There are also useful links to the Bauhaus Centenary Association 2019 partners, as well as to the individual Federal State marketing organizations particularly connected to the Bauhaus heritage, such as of Berlin, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.

Numerous Marketing Activities in Germany and Worldwide

‘100 Years Bauhaus’ will also be the focus of the GNTB’s 2nd Incoming Brand Summit’ which will be held at the end of October in Weimar. Organized in association with Thüringer Tourismus GmbH, the summit will be attended by 120 international media representatives and social media influencers from 20 countries. Further highlights of the Bauhaus campaign include a video project with media partner CNN and a virtual reality project in cooperation with the Bauhaus University Weimar. In addition, the GNTB will be using classic PR and social media activities throughout various markets worldwide, to promote the Bauhaus theme and its significance for Germany as a travel destination.
