A legendary five-star hotel was voted number one in the Top Singapore City Hotels category in a popular World’s Best Awards, honoring the top travel destinations and companies around the globe as rated.

The Award by Travel and Leisure ranked the iconic Raffles Singapore, a landmark hotel  also 9th in the Top 10 Asia City Hotels category, and 75th in the Top 100 Hotels Overall category. These accolades come as a timely nod to the hotel’s legendary service and charming experience, even as the hotel embarked on its current restoration programme for a planned reopening at the end of 2018.

Now in its 23rd year, the annual World’s Best Awards recognises the world’s top destinations, hotels and resorts, spas, tour operators and safari outfitters, airlines, airports, cruise lines and rental-car companies for their remarkable rooms, facilities, food, service, value and locations based on millions of reviews and opinions collected in a single year from Travel+Leisure travellers worldwide. “Being recognised as the #1 Hotel in Singapore is extremely significant in this special year for Raffles Hotel Singapore as we embark on a new chapter in our illustrious history with our current restoration. The continued support from Travel + Leisure readers and our guests is incredibly heartwarming and is a true testament to the Raffles promise – sincere and bespoke service right from the heart,” said Christian Westbeld, General Manager, Raffles Hotel Singapore.

“It is our honour to be awarded this recognition from Travel + Leisure and especially for our colleagues, this is a strong motivation to continue delivering the renowned Raffles experience. We look forward to welcoming our guests when this Singapore icon reopens and present Singapore and the world with a restored 19th century lifestyle destination that is designed to make Raffles Hotel Singapore the place to meet, spend time, shop and celebrate,” added Christian.

Raffles Hotel Singapore is currently closed for the third and final phase of its restoration, with a planned reopening at the end of 2018. During the closure of the hotel, the Raffles Gift Shop and pop-up Long Bar has moved to a temporary location at 3 Seah Street and will remain open throughout the restoration.
