Huntington Beach, the popular surf resort lying southeast of Los Angeles in Orange County, is the second most expensive destination in California over the 2018 summer season. That’s according to a recent survey conducted by LosAngelesHotels.org.

The survey compared destinations in the Golden State based on their cost of lodging. The months of July and August 2018 served as the comparative basis. The survey took into consideration only hotels rated at least 3 stars and those located close to the beach or city center.

At an average nightly rate of $292 for its most affordable double room, Huntington Beach ranks the second priciest overall. Only a few dollars more expensive in the number one spot is Coronado in the San Diego Bay. Meanwhile, the popular coastal mecca of Santa Monica rounds out the podium at an average price tag of $254 per night.

Another popular beach destination in Orange County, Laguna Beach, makes a showing in the survey’s Top 10. Palo Alto distinguishes itself as the priciest destination without a beach, ranking fourth most expensive overall.
