Authorities at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York activated the airport’s hijacking protocols at approximately 8 p.m. last night, Tuesday, June 26, 2018, just before a JetBlue flight was about to takeoff, because the airplane lost radio contact, signaling it may have been hijacked.

A connection was re-established about 15 minutes later when the crew communicated it was a false alarm. By then however, the massive emergency response action could not be recalled, and the police stormed the plane.

There were 160 passengers onboard with their hands up in the air as the heavily-armed FBI and Port Authority officers inspected the JetBlue airplane that was bound for Los Angeles, California. The police inspected the plane anyway as a precautionary measure to assure there was no security threat.

There was no word on what may have caused the error. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the lost connection.
