Resort of The Week: La Quinta Resort and Club, California

Most historical places of interest in Los Angeles usually get razed to make way for a new parking lot, so it is little wonder the folks in LA love La Quinta Resort just outside of Palm Springs.

Most historical places of interest in Los Angeles usually get razed to make way for a new parking lot, so it is little wonder the folks in LA love La Quinta Resort just outside of Palm Springs. Built in 1926, it was (and still is) a magnet for Hollywood royalty, presidents, and captains of industry. Originally just 20 rooms, today La Quinta has around 700 rooms yet still manages to maintain a small hotel feel with loads of privacy.

We recommend La Quinta for a wonderful destination wedding, where everyone will be close by, but not so close that guests, family, or the couple can’t get away for down time. Each room, even the most basic, entry-level room category are plush and oversized. A consideration when organizing a destination wedding is can people afford the hotel recommendation(s) from the couple? La Quinta Resort has something for every pocket book, both large and small.

Rates drop dramatically during summer as the temperature rises. We love La Quinta in summer, many people do not as the heat is usually over 100 degrees during the day and well into the 80s at night. Perfect we think for a California desert destination wedding. If you can stand the heat, you can nab rooms from as low as $89 a night in the US summer.

Watch out though for the “resort fee” which is a whopping $25 per night, per room. Most of all, La Quinta prides itself on service and hospitality, so planning a destination wedding here should be without hitches. La Quinta is renowned for its substantial margaritas, ideal for post-ceremony cocktails on their rolling green lawns surrounded by literally dozens and dozens of swimming pools. Thumbs up to La Quinta for a fabulous desert destination wedding surrounded by gorgeous landscaping, cool pools, majestic mountains, and loads of Hollywood history.
