Hilton Myanmar hires hotel executive Ashok Kapur

Hilton Hotels & Resorts in Myanmar has announced the appointment of Mr. Ashok Kapur as Cluster Director of Business Development.

An industry veteran with more than two decades of experience in travel and hospitality, Mr. Kapur joins in time to strengthen Hiltonโ€™s growing presence in the country.

โ€œMr. Ashok Kapurโ€™s expertise in the regionโ€™s emerging markets will be invaluable as we continue our expansion in Myanmar. We are delighted to welcome him and look forward to working together towards consistently raising the bar of hospitality in this country,โ€ said Helen Jacobe, Cluster General Manager of Hilton in Myanmar.

Originally from India, Mr. Kapur holds a Masters degree in Business Management and a Diploma in Hotel Management. He relocated to Myanmar from Thailand in April with his family. Mr. Kapur will drive Sales, PR, Marketing, Revenue, Reservations and Convention Sales function for all Hilton hotels in Myanmar and support strategic business planning for properties under development.

Mr. Kapur is currently based at the Cluster Office in Hilton Mandalay. Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Kapur said, โ€œI am honored to join the Hilton team at this particularly exciting time of development. The rich heritage and natural beauty of Myanmar makes it an incredible destination.โ€

Strategically located in the heart of Mandalay, right across from the Royal Palace, Hilton Mandalay is the first international hotel in the city offering upscale accommodation, world-class dining, and fullyequipped spaces for all types of events, meetings and conferences. Completing the first phase of its renovation masterplan in February, Hilton Mandalay boasts an exquisitely designed lobby that accentuates indigenous Myanmar artistry and materials.

A completely new all-day dining restaurant featuring the best of South East Asian and local cuisine was recently unveiled along with a beautiful pool in the midst of an idyllic garden. Guestrooms offer breathtaking views of the Mandalay Palace and famed Mandalay Hill and are slated for complete renovation in the near future. Hilton has been operating in Myanmar since October 2014, following a landmark deal with Eden Group Company Limited to open five of their properties in key destinations within Myanmar. Hilton Nay Pyi Taw, Hilton Ngapali Resort & Spa and Hilton Mandalay have opened since, to be followed by properties in Inle Lake, Yangon and Bagan in the next two years.
