Plane crash-lands on boulevard median in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – A small aircraft crash-landed on a busy boulevard in New Orleans’ Lakeview neighborhod. The plane landed on the wide, grassy median of the boulevard and struck the minivan, carrying three women and two children, after touching down.

The pilot hurt his arm but there were no other injuries.

According to AP, police spokesman Garry Flot says 60-year-old pilot Houston Hunter told police that his single-engine Piper was flying at 13,000 feet when it suffered mechanical trouble and had to land.

The National Transportation and Safety Board will investigate.
