Qatar hotel investments planned for the Comoros Islands

The chairman of Qatar National Hotels Company (QNH) HE Sheikh Nawaf bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani recently paid a visit to the Union of Comoros Islands.

The chairman of Qatar National Hotels Company (QNH) HE Sheikh Nawaf bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani recently paid a visit to the Union of Comoros Islands. He was accompanied by a delegation from QNH as well as representatives from the Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani Charity Institution.

The group arrived at Maroni, the capital of The Grand Comoros, where they were welcomed by the President.
HE Sheikh Nawaf met President Ahmed Abdallah Mohamed Sambi at his Beit Al Salam Palace to discuss social and economic issues related to their respective countries in addition to the current global economic situation and how it had affected the Unionโ€™s plans to attract foreign investment to the country.
President Sambi commended Sheikh Nawaf on the efforts of the Sheikh Jassim Bin Jabor Charity Institution, and praised its contributions to the medical welfare of the Union of Comoros.
Discussions also revolved around QNHโ€™s plans to invest in the countryโ€™s hospitality sector, and a memorandum of understanding was signed stating that QNH will purchase land in the Mitsamiouli area.
The area lies in the north of Grand Comoros and QNH has pledged to invest in a hotel or resort โ€œenvisioned to set a new benchmark for quality and standards in the Comoros with hopes to boost tourism to the countries islands.โ€
The Sheikh Jassim Bin Jabor Charity Institution also signed a memorandum of understanding to build a new 120-bed hospital in addition to further humanitarian contributions and reconstruction of certain buildings.
Sheikh Nawaf met other government officials, and conveyed the regards of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
