BEIJING, China – On March 20, 2011, International Tourism Marketing Summit was held in Boao, China. The summit took “Marketing can change the world” as the theme, and attracted the guests from the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the International Leisure Organization, Spain, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives and Chinese cities, Scenic areas and media.
The summit was held by the International Tourism Marketing Association as its first annual meeting in China, which took “Tourism Marketing” as the core theme. The participants focused on the developing trends of international tourism marketing, the next wave of information technology revolution in tourism marketing, tourism destination management and marketing innovation, classic cases of international tourism destination, the rise of Low-carbon and entertainment tourism industry, Internet use in tourism marketing, the combination of tourism planning, tourism investment, and tourism marketing and other issues combined to make brilliant speeches. Alfredo Jefferson, Chairman of International Tourism Marketing Association, former officer of UNDP gave a speech entitled” TOURISM MARKETING IN A CHANGING WORLD”, he said: “The world’s challenging circumstances would require, from tourism destinations, a serious look to their marketing strategies to be able to adapt to the challenging and highly competitive reality.”
