Tourism officials in Antigua and Barbuda are gearing up for another exciting June – The Month of Romance. Antigua and Barbuda, the “Most Romantic Caribbean Destination”, as voted by the World Travel Awards for three consecutive years, will launch this year’s activities with two social media contests. The first is a Facebook Sweepstakes, where one lucky couple will win a 3-night stay for two at the Sugar Ridge Resort.

The second giveaway hosted on the destination’s official Instagram handle will also offer a lucky couple a 3-night stay at the nautically-inspired South Point Hotel. Both contests include roundtrip airfare for two and a romantic VIP experience. Also added to the month-long celebration will be VIP processing for couples upon arrival and departure at the state-of-the-art V.C. Bird International Airport. Couples who have booked their wedding or honeymoon through a travel agent will be eligible for this service free of cost. The special promotion will also showcase the destination’s many romantic offerings available to both honeymooners and couples planning their weddings in the idyllic island paradise. Special packages are also being offered from some of the destination’s most romantic hotels with deals as much as 65% off weddings and honeymoon packages.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for couples to choose Antigua and Barbuda as the perfect location for their very special wedding or honeymoon,” said Colin C. James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority. “Our Romance Month offer makes it easy for couples to feel like the VIPs they deserve to be while enjoying our 365 pristine beaches, incredibly rich history and culture, delectable cuisine and more.”

To further promote the initiative, newly engaged models Afiya Bennett of Naomi Campbell’s The Face Reality TV Show and fiance Lloyd Dickenson will travel to Antigua and Barbuda to highlight the destination’s most romantic experiences and historical sites, while enjoying the beautiful Cocobay Resort, an All-Inclusive, Adult-Only getaway on the sunset side of Antigua, perfect for weddings and romantic honeymoons. Bennett and Dickenson will document their trip across social media which currently reaches more than 140,000 followers on Instagram alone. The couple is planning to tie the knot in June of 2019 on Antigua.

“We are so excited to be traveling to Antigua for the first time to celebrate Romance Month,” said Bennett.

Added Dickenson, “It’s going to be so amazing to get away from the busy streets of New York City and enjoy the cool calm breeze of the island. We are looking forward to some alone time together, and experiencing all Antigua has to offer!”

Antigua and Barbuda will host a special Romance Month Twitter chat on June 20 facilitated by Travel Mindset. The chat will focus on engaging couples who are planning their wedding and seeking quality services, amenities and experiences for their special occasion.

Antigua (pronounced An-tee’ga) and Barbuda (Bar-byew’da) is located in the heart of the Caribbean Sea. Voted the World Travel Awards 2015, 2016 and 2017 Caribbean’s Most Romantic Destination, the twin-island paradise offers visitors two uniquely distinct experiences, ideal temperatures year-round, a rich history, vibrant culture, exhilarating excursions, award-winning resorts, mouth-watering cuisine and 365 stunning pink and white-sand beaches – one for every day of the year. The largest of the Leeward Islands, Antigua comprises 108-square miles with rich history and spectacular topography that provides a variety of popular sightseeing opportunities. Nelson’s Dockyard, the only remaining example of a Georgian fort a listed UNESCO World Heritage site, is perhaps the most renowned landmark. Antigua’s tourism events calendar includes the prestigious Antigua Sailing Week, Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, and the annual Antigua Carnival; known as the Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Festival. Barbuda, Antigua’s smaller sister island, is the ultimate celebrity hideaway. The island lies 27 miles north-east of Antigua and is just a 15-minute plane ride away. Barbuda is known for its untouched 17 mile stretch of pink sand beach and as the home of the largest Frigate Bird Sanctuary in the Western Hemisphere. Find information on Antigua & Barbuda at:
