Reunion Island’s Waki Band holds press conference before traveling to Seychelles for carnival


Sully Fontaine and the “Waki Band” of La Reunion island in the Indian Ocean has held a press conference in La Reunion prior to their flight to Seychelles where they will be participating alongside the La Reunion island official delegation in the 2011 Seychelles “Carnaval International de Victoria.” Mr. Fontaine said that he congratulated the Seychelles for the great idea to organize a gathering for the community of nations. “It is a great initiative,” he said.

The press on the island of La Reunion have well covered the participation of La Reunion in the Seychelles carnival. Both islands are part of the “Vanilla Islands” marketing rroup, but only the island of La Reunion is sending a carnival float to Seychelles to form part of the 21 foreign floats and 50-plus Seychelles floats along the streets of Victoria, the capital of Seychelles.

The “Vanilla Islands” regroup La Reunion, Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar, Comores, and Mayotte – all part of the Indian Ocean islands. Pascal Viroleau, Head of Tourism in La Reunion, is personally traveling to Seychelles for the 2011 Seychelles carnival.
