The forthcoming 2011 Seychelles “Carnaval International de Victoria,” due to be held between March 4-6, 2011, is set to witness the participation of a Francophonie float just prior to the 7th edition of the “Francophonie” week (Semaine de La Francophonie), due to be held in Seychelles between March 15-24 of this year.

The “Semaine de La Francophonie” encourages countries with a French heritage, such as Seychelles, to celebrate their Francophone roots during a week celebrating French music, poetry, literature, fashion, and cuisine.

The participation of a “Francophonie” float at the carnival represents something of a departure for the organization and provides it with an opportunity to raise its profile, allowing the Seychellois public and the carnival participants coming from all over the world the chance to further identify with the organization and its aims over the carnivalโ€™s 3 days of festivities.

Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board and eTurboNews Ambassador, said on receiving the confirmation from “La Francophonie” this week that Seychelles was promoting a carnival under the theme of “melting pot of cultures.”

“What better event for world organizations to showcase what they stand for,” St.Ange said. The participation from the community of nations and world organizations decending on Seychelles with their respective carnival floats is set to make this African event one that will be remembered.
