Luanda – Angolan State-owned airline (TAAG) technical administrator, Constantino Dia’Lunda, Thursday in Luanda, expressed satisfaction at the technical performance and comfort offered by the China-made MA-60 aircraft that flew a demonstration flight on the Luanda/Lubango/Luanda route the same day.

Speaking to Angop short after the demonstration flight, TAAG official said the plane has good technical features and meets the basic requirements of the type the company intends to purchase.

However, he said, the company is still evaluating the process as negotiations between TAAG and China National Air Technology (CATIC) are in progress and the firm is also surveying other markets.

The source said as well that the MA-60 has as an advantage its ability to take off and land on short or long runways, whether asphalt-paved or not.

According to him, once purchased, the Chinese plane could operate on certain domestic routes where TAAG’s Beoing 737-200 and Fokkers find tough flying.

In his turn, maj. Joรฃo Chaves, a National Airforce pilot who was part of the demonstration flight members, said “the plane has acceptable technical performances for the kind of operation intended”.

He added the MA-60, with a capacity for 40-60 passengers, is economic in terms of fuel and adapts well to Angola’s runway conditions.
