PARIS — Unusually high waters prompted Paris tour boat operators to halt Seine River sight-seeing cruises.
The Associated Press reports that the Bateaux Mouches Company and Batobus both halted traffic on Sunday and Monday. They are leading operators of the popular trips down the Seine, with dozens of tours daily in good weather.
City authorities said in a statement they’re warning homeless people sleeping along the quais about the high waters. Some motorways along the river were closed.
According to AP, the water lapped the feet of trees along the Seine on Monday. Tourist Rosette Monti of Nice, who wanted to take her two grandchildren on a boat ride, says she’s “disappointed.”
The French capital has seen exceptional amounts of snow, causing disruptions at Paris airports and the Eiffel Tower.
